Live Positive Way

Hobbies are so important for any individual since it can help in grooming up a person.  In childhood we even go to an extent to excel in them with regular practices but gradually fail to pursue it once we go to job or get married.  While the men will get busy earning for his family and the ladies.....busy Home Makers!

Actually all our hobbies and likings will be connected to our happiness and subconscious mind's desires.  By leaving them behind we distance ourselves from the real us.  Our hobbies can keep us intact and by maintaining it we can spend some quality time for ourselves.  In this very busy world we are chasing the material accomplishments and we forget to even rejoice something which we have for us.  Hence its better if we keep something for us, which we like much. We can be stress free if we do it and trust me there won't be any need to go to Doctor complaining depression, anxiety or stress to get diagnosed with some disorder.

Have seen people who leave their hobbies particularly after marriage and they get too involved with their partner and go very far away from themselves.  Its good to be with the person we like the most but not at the cost of loosing us.  The times keep changing, we may be priority to someone in some time and that too will surely change.  But our hobbies are inbound and we don't need anyone else to pursue it.  If you like to listen to music, get a mp3 player and ensure at least you listen an hour in a day.  If you love dancing and feel conscious in front of others, do it in a closed room when you are alone.  I personally feel the people who has the habit of reading are the lucky ones.  Books indeed are one's best friend and it gives pleasure as well as develops our personality.

Its a request to all my fellow readers not to loose their hobbies in anytime in life since personal gratification is more essential and we will realise that in our old age days once the people whom we cared move on with their goals and we be left behind.  There were times when I stopped listening to songs and singing and those were the worst times of my life. Once I realized it gives me happiness and indirectly strengthens me I started listening songs and singing again.  We do connect everything which we like with a moment, person, time......so when we keep doing it our mind will stay full with those treasured memories.  Hence keep doing it and keep reinventing yourself, it will surely push you up in a positive direction.

Stay fresh.....always! Keep motivating self & everyone around!

Live Positive Way

Its a pleasure celebrating festivals that too if it brings people close to each other. Navratri (9 days) is my most favorite festival for its unique blend.  It is a combination of both colours and lights.  We in Tamilnadu, India celebrate Navratri by keeping Golu - idols made out of clay/mud and invite friends to showcase the same and give them Thamboolam (Gift) for visiting our place.

It started from the day we friends went out for shopping for the festival. Then decorating house, fixing the toys in appropriate hierarchy, showing some innovative work in the process.  At last done with it!

For Golu everyday we have to make 'Sundal' (boiled pulses) offered to God and the same we distribute as Prashad to our friends and kids visiting our place.

When I asked my Dad for why we celebrate it by keeping clay toys, he said that in those days during this monsoon season normally Potter doesn't get much business and hence to provide him with some work for his earnings such festivals might have started.  Not just Potter, the Florist, Fruit Vendors and other people too get their earnings this way.

I just want to add more to my Dad's view, its an opportunity to gain new friends, to strengthen the bonding with the existing friends, so much fun since it involve kids, pleasure offering gifts to the people visiting us and above all staying active and pleasant all through the 9 days!

Staying in an apartment set up its always interesting to celebrate festivals.  Though it involves much work the way the visitors get excited seeing the Golu will surely bring in much needed satisfaction.  There are so much in our tradition which if we follow can enlighen us from with in.  Its always good to be rooted in our culture and customs. The past 10 days were fabulous and now feeling fantastic, energetic and vibrant.  Feeling a high positive energy at home and started counting days for the next Golu, now a year ahead!

Stay Happy & Stay Positive!

Live Positive Way

It’s always easy to tackle the people who criticize us on our face.  If we need we can give an explanation or just pass on a sweet smile and ignore them.  But the ones who talk about us in our absence are more dangerous.  They can modify the facts as per their wish and can bad-mouth us.  Even if we are super positive, still at times we may feel low if we come to know someone backbiting us.  But we cannot change them and we cannot do what they are doing to us.  Hence just keep cool and tell yourself “No one can stop the Sun from shining, it may hide under the clouds for a while but will shine bright once it’s out. I am like that Sun”.

We are not here to please everyone around us!  We are here to evolve ourselves! If someone not able to understand your good intentions and feel jealous of you it’s their problem, not yours.  It’s your choice to stay happy and enjoy life. Just keep doing it and ignore those who are always there to hamper your happiness.  At the end whoever stay happy and wish happiness for everyone can only achieve in life.  The ones backbiting others can never have peace nor happiness since their heart is filled with grief and greed.  We can only feel pity for them.  Wish they too understand and enjoy life as we do!

Hey you, once again step out and keep your good work going…..!
Stay Positive & Stay Strong……!!

Live Positive Way

Hindi - you may wonder what's its relation with positivity!  It has in my life.

When I was so young I was interested in all art forms. Music, dance, painting, handwork everything..... Being in a middle class family and with father's financial constraints was not able to learn anything.  When I requested my dad for some extracurricular classes he just put forth an option of learning Hindi since it can benefit me in future.  As it was forcefully enforsed initially I was not interested in learning this language.  But since my childhood I always believed whatever happens is for my good and hence I started learning it.  Slowly got interest in it, thanks to my Hindi teachers.

As years passby, I started connecting all my favorite hobbies like music, dance to Hindi.  Singing Hindi songs for my friends and learning Bollywood dances by myself, I ended up doing stage performances in school, college, my office and still it continues...

When I landed in the Capital City for my job, I was by then fluent in Hindi and was easily accepted by my colleagues.  Hindi language has earned me appreciations for being a good singer, got me many good friends, some muh-bola bhais and many happiness........

I now think like a North Indian woman.  Baingan-ka-barta, methi parata, paneer sabjiyan have become a part of my daily cooking recipes.  Garba, bangra and dandiya flows in my blood.  Star plus, Colors, B4U music has created a prominent space in my heart.  Many a times my husband suspects of transmigration of a North Indian soul into my body.

Today I dont feel bad for not able to pursue proper music & dance classes and when someone asks me what's my mother's tongue I used to tell them I have both mother tongue Tamil and father tongue Hindi.  Its always up to us to decide anything in either ways, positive or negative. If we always choose positive way of accepting things we can stay content and at peace and happiness continues......

Live Positive Way

Yesterday it was both interesting and funny to see myself and my hubby, the couple sharing everything in life sitting opposite in his cabin and I was there (with few of the parents of my daughter's class) to ponder my concerns about my daughter's school, teachers....and he being my daughter's school Principal hearing them on behalf of the school and protecting his staff...... It must be tough for him since he should justify his both roles as a father and as a Principal.  I always admire him for his way of managing things. Not even once he had seen affected by my questions and he is ready with some solution.  He has the capability of seeing things in an objective way.  I have never seen him disturbed by any mundane affairs in life. He can just stay detached from that situation, analyse it and go ahead with some positive solution.  He will never allow my daughter to take advantage of his position at school.  He has a very simple lifestyle and always grounded.  He did had gone through difficult times and done many sacrifices in his life to achieve this place. I was with him in such phases for the past decade and seen him growing.  Today I really felt so proud to see him heading a whole big school without even taking the credits of so much he has done in his life so far.  He takes life as it comes and have a broader perspective.  I feel I am double positive now being with him.

Live Positive Way

Its almost one year we started staying in this place.  Initially it was bit out of place feel since moving back to apartments set up after 2 years gap.  Though can make friends easily still took time to settle down.  Now after few months, have got many friends...true ones who can do anything to just keep me happy, fun roaming around with them, Zumba classes, silent admirers, long walks & talks, occasional outings, sharing recipes now & then, exchanging pleasantries, hello smiles......so much to add on to this never ending list.  Is this all gonna be forever?  Never!!! This too will pass!!!  But getting attached to it so much that I have got a fear of missing all of this at some point of time.  Wish to be here forever but its quite impossible.  One thing is for sure these memories will surely be treasured.  By remembering Kaniyan Poongunranar's famous Tamil quote "Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir" which means "To us all towns are one, all men our kin", got a positive thought that even if this phase ends and happens to leave this place still I can make more friends, stay happy and evolve better.   But will enjoy this moment fully by practicing Zen - Being Present in the Present!  Also by keeping myself ready for the future surprises......
Stay Positive, Stay Happy!

Live Positive Way

That's my second visit to the movie Kabali today.  Feeling amused seeing the crowd there belonging to various age group.   Could see a 3 year old boy clapping seeing Rajini and also 75+ ones, who are not able to even walk through the pathway still so enthusiastic to watch him onscreen.  Such a big star....sorry sorry....Super Star - Rajinikant.  He got fans in all age groups....across generations.... I do remember my granny used to like him, my dad -his hard core fan, me and even my daughter. He is both a mass & a class Hero.  I always have a great respect for him not for him being a Super star or for his style (ofcourse I can't deny liking it very much) but for him being so humble after all credits he has on his side.  In his movie you can see even a person coming for few shots carrying happy face, smiling and enjoying his presence near him.  Next time you happen to see his movie just observe this.  Such a Positive Person he is.  I doubt anyone else can be so simple as him after being such a huge personality.  I certainly believe he must be a very positive person and that's why he is been blessed with so much love and attention.  He had his own ups & downs, good & bad, but we can see him now at top of the world, still detached and spiritually inclined.  He is more than a life....and a real Inspiration to me.... The love he gets from the people around the world is amazing and even if we get a few true hearts for ourselves we can think that we are blessed.....
Stay Positive....! Stay Humble...!

Live Positive Way

Today, people worship him not because he was a Great Scientist, not because he was our President and not because he has won so many awards.... but for the way he touched our lives with his simplicity.   It's once again proven that, above all.. humane touch and compassion alone can earn us more people, respect and love.  Let us salute Dr. Kalam for all he has done to us and let's take a pledge to lead our lives in the path that he has laid!

Live Positive Way

A Great Lesson on Attitudes ....                 Worth sharing

An old man, staying in a small south Indian town came to visit his son in Bombay recently. The son in his early thirties is a successful businessman living with his wife and son.The father, having spent most of his life at his birthplace, hardly understands a splatter of Hindi or English, forget Marathi. But he doesn't care. 'I have come here to spend a few days with my son and his family. I don't have to go out and socialize with the city people,' he said.
But the son is very excited about his father's rare visit to Bombay. He wants to make the best of it. He and his wife want to show him around the city. And yes, the son enjoys those evening hours too, when he and his father go out and sit in a good bar, sipping their favorite drink.
Last week he was in a very good mood. 'Let's go to a five star hotel's bar tonight,' he told his father. It was a beautiful evening. Talking about everything under the sun they had a few drinks. As usual they were offered some salad, peanuts, wafers etc .as accompaniments with their drinks.
The old man being almost toothless was not much interested in eating. But that day when they got up to leave, he simply took a handful of chana (roasted grams) and stuffed it in the fold of his dhoti. He might have thought about munching on them, sitting in the car, or whatever.
Unfortunately while walking in the lobby, he missed a step and stumbled. Down he went, scattering the chana on the plush carpet. No problem ..... Now try to visualize that scenario. Someone else in his son's place would have been mortified, embarrassed to death. He might have cursed not his father but his own self for causing this awkward situation. 'Never again will I take my old man to such hotels', he would have vowed.
No sir, not this son. Gently, with a smile, he helped his father get back on his feet. Instead of feeling irritated or angry, he was amused. He found the whole incident very funny. Laughing, they both went home and on the way they decided to return to the same place the following Sunday. The old man liked the place and liked the chana too.
Few days back, at a friend's place they both described this event and made everybody laugh.
Weren't you embarrassed? Somebody asked the son. 'Oh, come on now' replied the son. 'He is my father. He talks in his native language, prefers to wear a dhoti even to a posh city hotel, takes chana from the bar to eat later, does whatever he feels like.... So what? Why should I feel embarrassed with his nature and habits?
Nobody has a right to stop him from doing whatever he feels comfortable with, as long as it is not harmful to others.' The son doesn't care what the staff in the hotel thought about that incident.
He says 'they should be concerned only with their bills and tips. I am concerned about my father's happiness.'
The wife too totally agrees with the husband on this issue. She feels there are enough other qualities in her father- in- law to feel proud of. Accept them .The above incident is not mentioned just to show the love and devotion of a son for his father.
More than love it is a matter of understanding and a healthy respect for the other person's lifestyle. A seventy plus old man doesn't want to change his lifestyle now. He likes the way he eats or dresses or talks. In his eyes there is nothing wrong with the old ways of living.
And the son says, ok, fine. Every body has a right to live as per his wish. Now at his age, why should he be forced to learn to eat with a fork and knife, if he doesn't want to? I will feel bad if he is doing something morally wrong or indulging in some harmful activities. But otherwise it is fine. I am not going to try to change him at this stage. He is my father. I love him, respect him.
Hey folks, can you think this way? So many times we see people getting embarrassed by the so called unsophisticated behaviour of their family members. They keep on apologizing about their lack of class and manners or about their drawbacks to outsiders.
My wife can't speak proper English; she doesn't know what's happening in the world, so I avoid taking her out or introducing her to my friends and business associates... My parents can't eat with a spoon and fork, so I don't take them to restaurants My husband is working as an ordinary clerk, so I feel awkward when I introduce him to my rich friends. My brother is mentally challenged, so I don't feel like going out with him... Are you plagued with such thoughts or do you meet such people who think alike?
If you do, please help yourself. Why do others or I feel this way? Really what is there to feel ashamed of? Most of the people always have this fear of other peoples' opinions n comments. What would others say?
After reading it, our liking and understanding of our parents and people like them will increase day by day. What a thought-provoking message

Live Positive Way

That's a lovely message I got from my friend and sharing it here....

WHEN A LIZARD CAN, WHY CAN'T WE?

This is a true story that happened in Japan.

In order to renovate the house, someone in Japan breaks open the wall.

Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls.

When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of it's feet.

He sees this, feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail,
it was nailed 5 years ago when the house was first built !!!

What happened?

The lizard has survived in such position for 5 years!!!!!!!!!!

In a dark wall partition for 5 years without moving, it is impossible and mind-boggling.

Then he wondered how this lizard survived for 5 years! without moving a single step--since it's foot was nailed!

So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, and what and how it has been eating.

Later, not knowing from where it came, appears another lizard, with food in it's mouth.

Ah! He was stunned and touched deeply.

For the lizard that was stuck by nail, another lizard has been feeding it for the past 5 years...

Imagine? it has been doing that untiringly for 5 long years, without giving up hope on it's partner.

Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with a brilliant mind can't.

Please never abandon your loved ones

Never Say you're Busy When They Really Need You ...

You May Have The Entire World At Your Feet.....

But You Might Be The Only World To Them....

A Moment of negligence might break the very heart which loved you against all odds..

Before you say something just remember..it takes a moment to Break but an entire lifetime to make...

Live Positive Way

Something nice to share...

A man often bought oranges from an old lady.

After they were weighed, paid for and put in his bag, he would always pick one from his bag, peel it, put a segment in his mouth, complain it's sour and pass on the orange to the seller.

The old lady would put one segment in her mouth and retort, "why, it's sweet," but by then he was gone with his bag.

His wife, always with him, asked, "the oranges are always sweet, then why this drama every time?"

He smiled, "the old mother sells sweet oranges but never eats them herself. This way I get her to eat one, without losing her money. That's all."

The vegetable seller next to the old lady, saw this everyday.

She chided, "every time this man purchase your oranges, and I see that you always weigh a few extra for him. Why?"

The old lady smiled, "I know he does this to feed me an orange, only, he thinks I don't understand. I never weigh extra. His love tilts the scale slightly every time."

Life's joys are in these sweet little gestures of love and respect for our fellow beings. And in giving, not usurping. Not in money.
