Book Review and an article...!

1. Listen – to what your child is saying, and more importantly, what he is feeling.
2. Respond to your child’s feelings. Let him know you’ve heard him and you understand why he feels the way he does.
3. Touch. Never be afraid to reach out and touch your child. Touching is an important way to communicate your love and care for him.
4. Always look for alternatives. Ask him if there is anything else he would like to do. If not, suggest a few things.
5. Give your child a choice. After examining all the alternatives, let him make the choice as to what he wants to do.
6. Never accept excuses. If you do that, you’re encouraging your child to keep the blame fixed on someone else.
7. See your child’s mistakes not as defeats or frustrations but as building blocks.
8. Encourage commitment. Don’t take your child’s problems upon your shoulders and solve them for him.
9. Be ready to evaluate the problem. Always be ready to give your support and encouragement.

Replace Negative Thoughts...

Happiness is a result of a decision to be happy.
Your emotions and feelings are created by your thoughts.

Thoughts grow with our attention. If we focus on negative thoughts, they will grow and grow and become larger. If we focus on your success and progress and the new thoughts you are learning, will get stronger and take control over us.
Going over and over the reasons for your problem is like pouring oil in a burning wood.
The only factor making us unhappy is our own thoughts. Relax, release them, let them go.
When you notice self-limiting and self-defeating thoughts playing over and over in your mind, replace it by saying "STOP! I will not give you any more power over me! I have better things to do!!"

Don't miss this film...

Recently I got an opportunity to see the film named "The Secret". Its not a commercial movie, but a sort of documentary type which reveals the most powerful law in the universe.

It says that without exception, every human being has the ability to transform any weakness or suffering into strength, power, perfect peace, health, and abundance. Idea is from Rhonda Byrne's. She has done a deep tracing on common truth that lay at the core of the most powerful philosophies, teachings and religions in the world. Her long search is now captured in The Secret, a film that has been viewed by millions around the world. The Secret has also been released as an audio-book and printed. It explains about the Law of Attraction in a big way.

The Secret offer you the knowledge of how to create your own happiness in life. I feel its a powerful movie which gives us positive motivation...do try to watch or read the same when time permits.

Bill Gates speech..

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1
: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2
: The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3
: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4
: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5
: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6
: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7
: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. "We'll see" - story

Once upon a time, there was a farmer in the central region of China. He didn't have a lot of money and, instead of a tractor, he used an old horse to plow his field. One afternoon, while working in the field, the horse dropped dead. Everyone in the village said, "Oh, what a horrible thing to happen." The farmer said simply, "We'll see."

He was so at peace and so calm, that everyone in the village got together and, admiring his attitude, gave him a new horse as a gift. Everyone's reaction now was, "What a lucky man." And the farmer said, "We'll see." A couple days later, the new horse jumped a fence and ran away. Everyone in the village shook their heads and said, "What a poor fellow!" The farmer smiled and said, "We'll see."

Eventually, the horse found his way home, and everyone again said, "What a fortunate man." The farmer said, "We'll see." Later in the year, the farmer's young boy went out riding on the horse and fell and broke his leg. Everyone in the village said, "What a shame for the poor boy." The farmer said, "We'll see."

Two days later, the army came into the village to draft new recruits. When they saw that the farmer's son had a broken leg, they decided not to recruit him. Everyone said, "What a fortunate young man." The farmer smiled again - and said "We'll see."

Moral of the story:

There's no use in overreacting to the events and circumstances of our everyday lives. Many times what looks like a setback, may actually be a gift in disguise. And when our hearts are in the right place, all events and circumstances are gifts that we can learn valuable lessons from.

As Fra Giovanni once said: "Everything we call a trial, a sorrow, or a duty, believe me... The gift is there and the wonder of an overshadowing presence."

Never Quit...!


One day I decided to quit. I quit my job, my relationship, my spirituality. I wanted to quit my life. I went to the woods to have one last talk with God."God", I said. "Can you give me one good reason not to quit?"

His answer surprised me. "Look around", He said. "Do you see the fern and the bamboo?""Yes", I replied. "When I planted the fern and the bamboo seeds, I took very good care of them. I gave them light. I gave them water. The fern quickly grew from the earth. Its brilliant green covered the floor. Yet nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on the bamboo.

In the second year the Fern grew morevibrant and plentiful. And again, nothing came from the bamboo seed. But I did not quit on thebamboo. In year three there was still nothing from the bamboo seed. But I would notquit. In year four, again, there was nothing from the bamboo seed. I would notquit.

Then in the fifth year a tiny sprout emerged from the earth. Compared to the fern it was seemingly small and insignificant. But just 6months later the bamboo rose to over 100 feet tall. It had spent the five years growing roots. Those roots made it strong andgave it what it needed to survive. I would not give any of my creations a challenge it could not handle. "He said to me. "Did you know, my child, that all this time you have been struggling, you have actually been growing roots?""I would not quit on the bamboo. I will never quit on you."

"Don't compare yourself to others." He said. "The bamboo had a different purpose than the fern. Yet they both make the forest beautiful." "Your time will come", God said to me. "You will rise high""How high should I rise?" I asked. "How high will the bamboo rise?" He asked in return." As high as it can?" I questioned."Yes." He said, "Give me glory by rising as high as you can." I left the forest to bring back this story. I hope these words can help you see that God will never give up on you.

Perspective - How big are we!

This one I hope most of us have seen, but I personally like this so much and want to have this posted in my blog. Whenever I see this, my ego level comes down drastically and I wish I must do something worth to this society....

Now how big are we?
How big is our ego level?
Who are us to judge others and punish others?
Do we really have to hurt people since we have to satisfy our self esteem?
And how big are the things that upset us day to day?

Breakfast at McDonald's

This is one lovely story my hubby shared with me few days back… I wish to share with all my bloggers…! ! This is a good story and is true, please read it all the way through until the end! (After the story, there are some very interesting facts!)

Story….Breakfast at McDonald's

I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called, 'Smile.' The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reactions. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway. So, I thought this would be a piece of cake, literally.

Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonald's one crisp March morning. It was just our way of sharing special playtime with our son. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did. I did not move an inch... an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved.

As I turned around I smelled a horrible 'dirty body' smell, and there standing behind me were two poor homeless men. As I looked down at the short gentleman, close to me, he was smiling'. His beautiful sky blue eyes were full of God's Light as he searched for acceptance. He said, 'Good day' as he counted the few coins he had been clutching. The second man fumbled with his hands as he stood behind his friend. I realized the second man was mentally challenged and the blue-eyed gentleman was his salvation. I held my tears as I stood there with them.

The young lady at the counter asked him what they wanted. He said, 'Coffee is all Miss' because that was all they could afford. (If they wanted to sit in the restaurant and warm up, they had to buy something. He just wanted to be warm). Then I really felt it - the compulsion was so great I almost reached out and embraced the little man with the blue eyes. That is when I noticed all eyes in the restaurant were set on me, judging my every action.

I smiled and asked the young lady behind the counter to give me two more breakfast meals on a separate tray. I then walked around the corner to the table that the men had chosen as a resting spot. I put the tray on the table and laid my hand on the blue-eyed gentleman's cold hand. He looked up at me, with tears in his eyes, and said, 'Thank you.' I leaned over, began to pat his hand and said, 'I did not do this for you. God is here working through me to give you hope.'

I started to cry as I walked away to join my husband and son. When I sat down my husband smiled at me and said, 'That is why God gave you to me, Honey, to give me hope.' We held hands for a moment and at that time, we knew that only because of the Grace that we had been given were we able to give. We are not church goers, but we are believers. That day showed me the pure Light of God's sweet love.

I returned to college, on the last evening of class, with this story in hand. I turned in 'my project' and the instructor read it. Then en she looked up at me and said, 'Can I share this?' I slowly nodded as she got the attention of the class. She began to read and that is when I knew that we as human beings and being part of God share this need to heal people and to be healed. In my own way I had touched the people at McDonald's, my son, instructor, and every soul that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student.
I graduated with one of the biggest lessons I would ever learn:
UNCONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE.
LOVE PEOPLE AND USE THINGS - NOT LOVE THINGS AND USE PEOPLE.
