I like this quote very much...

Affirmative Prayers Release Powers By Which
Positive Results Are Accomplished
- Norman Vincent Peale.

Friday, October 30, 2009

Make a change...

Always picture yourself as succeeding--no matter how badly things seem to be.

If negative thoughts come to mind--voice a positive thought to cancel the negative.

Do not inflate difficulties with fear thoughts.

Try prayer power--affirmative prayers release powers by which positive results are accomplished.

Every day write down five things for which you are thankful.

Remember fear only becomes a problem when you receive it and let it control your life--find something positive every day.

Remember it is not what happens to us but what is in us that settles the matter.

Press through the pressure and do not let circumstances dictate peace and joy.

EASY & DIFFICULT

Easy is to promise something to someone. Difficult is to fulfill that promise...
Easy is to say we love. Difficult is to show it every day...
Easy is to criticize others. Difficult is to improve oneself...
Easy is to make mistakes. Difficult is to learn from them...
Easy is to weep for a lost love. Difficult is to take care of it so not to lose it...
Easy is to think about improving. Difficult is to stop thinking it and put it into action...
Easy is to think bad of others. Difficult is to give them the benefit of the doubt...
Easy is to receive. Difficult is to give...
Easy to read this. Difficult to follow...
Easy is keep the friendship with words. Difficult is to keep it with meanings...

Extracted from web page

These are few things extracted from an article "How to just do it?" by Andrew Galasetti.

“Just do it.” Three simple words that are simply powerful.
Nike made this phrase famous, but it’s not just a marketing gimmick. All you need is to “just do it” and you will reach a crucial tipping point in which you will go from saying and planning; to doing and proving.
It’s pretty scary to take a plunge into something like “just do it” implies. But here is how you go about it.
Don’t pick a time or day
“Just doing it” shouldn’t be precise; it should come to you out of the blue. There’s no need to pick a day or plan ahead.
Get pissed, get frustrated
I’ll be honest; I’m pissed and frustrated as I write this article right now. But it’s giving me an unbelievable amount of motivation, and even a little adrenaline to go for it.
Instead of fighting, crying, or complaining when you’re frustrated, funnel that energy into focus and action.
Remember that time’s a wastin’
Every month, week, day, hour, and minute you get closer to your end. Nothing will motivate you more to live than death.
Think less, act more
It might be risky, it might get you in trouble, but you must act more than you think. Forget the “what if’s.” F**K all the naysayers and whatever they tell you! Don’t worry if you fail. Don’t think about the
money you’ll lose or gain. Be a little stupid and take a lot of action.
Lose these words and phrases
These aren’t real excuses.
“I can’t.”
“I don’t have enough money.”
You don’t
need money to take the plunge.
“I don’t have enough time.”
Yes you do! I don’t care how busy you are. You don’t have enough time to wait.
“I don’t know where to start.”
“I don’t know how.”
Start learning. Get your feet wet and you’ll learn along the way.
“Later.”
No, now!
Stop acting like you’re busy
There are a lot of people out there who push papers around and act like they have so many places to go and so much to do. In reality, they’re just avoiding the actions that will get them what they really desire. May be it is because they’re scared or doubtful.
I don’t care who you are; you have time to “just do it” and chase something you want or need. You’ll just have to get less sleep, lose free time, and make lots of other sacrifices.

A story...

A woman was diagnosed with a terminal illness and given three months to live. She asked her Pastor to come to her home to discuss her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at her funeral, and what scriptures she wanted read, and which outfit she wanted to be buried in.

Then she said, "One more thing... I want to be buried with a fork in my hand."

The pastor was surprised.

The woman explained, "In all my years of attending church socials and potluck dinners, I always remember that when the dishes of the main course were being cleared, someone would inevitably say to everyone, 'Keep your fork.' It was my favorite time of the dinner, because I knew something better was coming, like velvety chocolate cake or deep dish apple pie - something wonderful. So, I want people to see me there in that casket with a fork in my hand and wonder, ' What's with the fork?' Then, I want you to tell them, ' Keep your fork, because the best is yet to come.' "

The pastor's eyes welled up with tears of joy as he bid the woman goodbye. He realized she had a better grasp of heaven than he did, and knew something better was coming.

At the funeral, when people asked him why she was holding a fork, the pastor told them of the conversation he had with the woman before she died. He said he could not stop thinking about the fork, and knew they probably would not be able to stop thinking about it either. He was right.

"Keep your fork. The best is yet to come."

Poem

That I a Better Person May Be
Author Unknown

Light that lies deep inside of me
Come forth in all thy majesty
Show me thy gaze
Teach me thy ways
That I a better person may be

Darkness that lies deep inside of me
Come forth in all thy mystery
Show me thy gaze
Teach me thy ways
That I a better person may be

Love that lies deep inside of me
Come forth in all thy unity
Let me be thy gaze
Let me teach thy ways
That I a better person may be

Dream To Fly -- Author Unknown

Larry Walters is among the relatively few who have actually turned their dreams into reality. His story is true, even though you may find it hard to believe.

Larry was a truck driver, but his lifelong dream was to fly. When he graduated from high school, he joined the Air Force in hopes of becoming a pilot. Unfortunately, poor eyesight disqualified him. So, when he finally left the service, he had to satisfy himself with watching others fly the fighter jets that criss-crossed the skies over his backyard. As he sat there in his lawn chair, he dreamed about the magic of flying.

Then one day, Larry Walters got an idea. He went down to the local Army-Navy surplus store and bought a tank of helium and forty-five weather balloons. These were not your brightly colored party balloons, these were heave-duty spheres measuring more than four feet across when fully inflated. Back in his yard, Larry used straps to attach the balloons to his lawn chair, the kind you might have in your own back yard.

He anchored the chair to the bumper of his jeep and inflated the balloons with helium. Then he packed some sandwiches and drinks and loaded a BB gun, figuring he could pop a few of those balloons when it was time to return to earth.

His preparations complete, Larry Walters sat in his chair and cut the anchoring cord. His plan was to lazily float up a ways, and then lazily back down to terra firma. But, things didn't quite work out that way.

When Larry cut the cord, he didn't float lazily up - he shot up as if fired from a cannon! Nor did he go up a couple hundred feet. He climbed and climbed, until he finally leveled off at eleven THOUSAND feet! At that height, he could hardly risk deflating any of the balloons, lest he unbalance the load and really experience flying! So, he stayed up there, sailing around for fourteen hours, totally at a loss as to how to get down. Eventually, Larry drifted into the approach corridor for Los Angeles International Airport. A Pan Am pilot radioed the tower about passing a guy in a lawn chair at eleven thousand feet... with a gun in his lap. (Now there's a conversation I would have liked to have heard!)

LAX is right on the ocean, and you may know that at nightfall, the winds on the coast begin to change. So, as dusk fell, Larry began drifting out to sea.

At that point, the Navy dispatched a helicopter to rescue him. But, the rescue team had a hard time getting to him, because the draft from their propeller kept pushing his home-made contraption farther and farther away. Eventually they were able to hover over him and drop a rescue line with which they gradually hauled him back to earth.

As soon as Larry hit the ground, he was arrested.

But as he was being led away in handcuffs, a television reporter called out to ask, "Mr. Walters, why did you do it?"

Larry stopped, eyed the man for a moment and replied nonchalantly,
"A man can't just sit around."
--------------------
Seriously, though...

What are you doing today to make your dreams and goals come true?
"What happens tomorrow depends on what you do today." Are you doing something to improve your life... or just sitting around?

Todays special thought...!

Diwali is a very important festival celebrated in India...
Though bloggers know about its importance I just want to highlight the positive thing about this festival and why we celebrate it...
In India, Diwali is celebrated all over the country and for different reasons and in different ways.
The most famous of all stories is the one in Ramayana. It was this day that Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya after 14 years. After defeating Ravana and rescuing Sita. So Ayodhya was lit up to welcome him. So we light lamps that day.

Another is that it is a dark no Moon night. And Ghosts roam around. So we light up to ward off Evil Spirits.

A third story is "Narakasur Vadh" - Sri Krishna and his wife, Satyabhama vanquishes the demon.

Today the most evil element in this world is the negative thought we have in our minds... so lets kill those negative thoughts and lighten up the positive spirit in us.

Thought for the day!

"The distinction between historian and poet is not in the one writing prose and the other verse… the one describes the thing that has been, and the other a kind of thing that might be. Hence poetry is something more philosophic and of graver import than history, since its statements are of the nature rather of universals, whereas those of history are singulars."

A Beautiful Poem

Drop a Pebble in the Water
Poet: James W. Foley

Drop a pebble in the water: just a splash, and it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,
Spreading, spreading from the center, flowing on out to the sea.
And there is no way of telling where the end is going to be.

Drop a pebble in the water: in a minute you forget,
But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet,
And those little waves a-flowing to a great big wave have grown;
You've disturbed a mighty river just by dropping in a stone.

Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on.
They keep spreading, spreading, spreading from the center as they go,
And there is no way to stop them, once you've started them to flow.

Drop an unkind word, or careless: in a minute you forget;
But there's little waves a-flowing, and there's ripples circling yet,
And perhaps in some sad heart a mighty wave of tears you've stirred,
And disturbed a life was happy ere you dropped that unkind word.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness: just a flash and it is gone;
But there's half-a-hundred ripples circling on and on and on,
Bearing hope and joy and comfort on each splashing, dashing wave
Till you wouldn't believe the volume of the one kind word you gave.

Drop a word of cheer and kindness: in a minute you forget;
But there's gladness still a-swelling, and there's joy a-circling yet,
And you've rolled a wave of comfort whose sweet music can be heard
Over miles and miles of water just by dropping one kind word.

Have a Positive Day!

Hope you all had a nice weekend...
Read this web extract... its worth reading....
Ways to Create the Good Feeling

•Reward yourself immediately after you’ve taken action.
- You want to give yourself something that will make you feel good, something that you normally wouldn’t do. Just make sure it doesn’t contradict the habit you’re trying to create. Don’t reward yourself by binging on fatty foods if your habit is to eat healthier foods obviously.

•Focus on the end result.
- Why do you want to create this habit in the first place? Think about the feelings you would get if your habit was already developed.

•Think about the consequences of NOT following through.
- Create and associate pain to not following through. Imagine where you’d be years down the road if you don’t create this habit.

•Imagine where you’d be 6 months, a year, 3 years from today if this habit is now a part of you.

•Think about what feelings you’re looking for and find other things you can do that give you the same feeling and combine them.
- For example, if the habit you’re trying to create is to workout everyday and the feeling you get is a feeling of power and confidence and you happen to have a particular song that when you listen to gives you that sensation, listen to it while you workout.

Lets relax a bit...fact but fun!

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2009 when...

1. You accidentally enter your password on the microwave.

2 You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years.

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of 3.

4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that they don't have e-mail addresses.

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.

7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : )

12 You're reading this and nodding and laughing.

13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to forward this message.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on this list

AND NOW YOU ARE LAUGHING at yourself.

Balanced Thinking

A wonderful mail I received today from my friend. Just like to pass on this to all my buddy bloggers...
If everything was easy and nothing made us sad,
If everything was easy and nothing turned out bad,
If heartaches never happened and tears would never flow,
We'd stay such little people and never really grow.
If everything was easy and fell into our hands,
If everything was easy and went just like we planned,
We'd take it all for granted and feel no greater gain,
For strength comes when we suffer and wisdom comes from pain.
If everything was easy I'd be no good to you
For how could I look at your hurtand say I'd been there, too?
I'd be a petty person just an infant all my days
And I'd never thank my God for the sunshine's golden rays!!!
Wishing you all a Beautiful Day!

Have a positive day!

Three people were laying bricks and a passerby asked them what they were doing. The first one replied, "Don't you see I am making a living?". The second one said, "Don't you see I am laying bricks?". The third one said, "I am building a beautiful monument." Three people doing the same thing gave totally different replies. The question is : did they have different attitudes? And would their attitude affect their performances? Certainly yes! Many of us do our work just for earning and making a living. Whatever be the circumstances, however be the management, love the job you are doing and give 100% commitment to it and enjoy each bit of it.
Positive Attitude certainly pays you if not now then surely later.

Motivating Poem

One of many famous motivational poems:
The Road Not Taken
Poet: Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Parents... check this out

I used to read some articles regarding parenting and being a proud mommy blogger I wish to share them with bloggers who visit my page. Here is one nice stuff I read sometime back in some webpage. Just putting some points down which I remember.
Its about positive parenting without yelling at your kids.
We all can have and enjoy peaceful parenting lives built around with caring relationships. We just need the tools and the will to use them. Children grow strong and healthy when nursed by the energy of love -- an energy too sensitive to co-exist with the harsh vibrations of anger. Fortunately, parents have so much love to give; when they stop yelling, that love pours out and fills the hearts of their kids.
Some benefits we get if we stop yelling are :-
Your home becomes a place of worship in a really stressful world.
Everyone will enjoy being there.
You increase your parenting power by strengthening your relationship
Your kids will enjoy more physical health, mental health and emotional health and have better social skills and academic performance.
You'll be teaching your children a communication style that can help them enjoy positive and loving relationships throughout their lives, especially with their own spouses and children.
You increase the likelihood of enjoying a warm, life-long relationship with your children and grandchildren
Its difficult but possible, we can stop yelling. It is crucial for peace in the home and parental peace of mind that parents stop raising their voices. You can help yourself succeed by using a reward or punishment system. This may seem a bit childish at first, but it works! Try this out.
So you are asking me whether I have mastered in it?
No, I am still practising... all the best to myself and to you all.

Whenever a negative thought that comes into your mind and turn it into a positive one. Instead of being gloomy, concentrate on being happy and energetic.
Never judge events as “good” or “bad”, but experience them, celebrate them and learn from them.

Quotes of Swami Vivekananda

Some of the finest collection from the Swamiji's quotes
"We are what our thoughts have made us; so take care about what you think. Words are secondary. Thoughts live; they travel far.”
“Where can we go to find God if we cannot see Him in our own hearts and in every living being.”
“The first sign of your becoming religious is that you are becoming cheerful”
“The world is the great gymnasium where we come to make ourselves strong.”
“The more we come out and do good to others, the more our hearts will be purified, and God will be in them.”
“All the powers in the universe are already ours. It is we who have put our hands before our eyes and cry that it is dark.”
“If you think about disaster, you will get it. Brood about death and you hasten your demise. Think positively and masterfully, with confidence and faith, and life becomes more secure, more fraught with action, richer in achievement and experience.”
“Our duty is to encourage every one in his struggle to live up to his own highest idea, and strive at the same time to make the ideal as near as possible to the Truth.”
