Siddharth Jayakumar... touching lives!

Bloggers kindly go through the below message from my friend, he wishes to share  something very good with everyone!!!
(posted with his permission)

Hi ,

Let me introduce myself as Siddharth GJ. My sincere apologies for clogging your inbox but I wanted to take a quick 5 minutes of yours to tell you about myself and my journey, which gives me immense pride to feel worth sharing with you. Should you google my name (Siddharth g j or Siddharth Jayakumar), you would find articles about me, which would talk about my journey in life. At the outset I would like to make it clear that this mail is not a request for help in any manner but just to acquaint you with myself.

Please take some time in going through attached presentation which takes you through my journey from being tagged as a “Mentally retarded guy” to being successful professional in the banking industry. Essentially it started with a jaundice attack 3 days after my birth leading to Cerebral Palsy. I joined a “Special school” at the age of 10 and had a chance to join a regular school for my 10th grade and then went to on to do B.com and Masters in Economics yet again in a regular institution. My academics were very good from any standpoint as I scored well above average throughout my academic career. Thereafter after a painful job hunt process I got my first break at then ABN Amro, now RBS and I am currently with IndusInd Bank Ltd.

Having seen that my journey was far from being as smooth as described in the presentation, the kind of turbulations, humiliation, disappointment, struggle I had to go through is far from the imagination of a regular child. The positive side of this is that it made me quite tough and resilient in life. My experiences thought me that the best way of tackling problems is to face them rather than running away. At present, I have been doing a lot of speeches/talk sharing my experiences and lessons I have learnt in my life. I am a regular speaker at TCS and have given motivational speeches in Tedx, Great Lakes Institute of Management, Scope and many more places…..I urge you to have a look at some of my videos by clicking the links below:

Thanks a lot for your time to read this mail and I hope you will join me in my mission of spreading awareness and passion for life.

Beautiful people

The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat,
known suffering, known struggle, known loss,
and have found their way out of the depts.
These people have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern.
Beautiful people do not just happen.

Story time..!

The little girl lived in a small, very simple, poor house on a hill and as she grew she would play in the small garden and as she grew she was able to see over the garden fence and across the valley to a wonderful house high on the hill – and this house had golden windows, so golden and shining that the little girl would dream of how magic it would be to grow up and live in a house with golden windows instead of an ordinary house like hers.

And although she loved her parents and her family, she yearned to live in such a golden house and dreamed all day about how wonderful and exciting it must feel to live there.

When she got to an age where she gained enough skill and sensibility to go outside her garden fence, she asked her mother is she could go for a bike ride outside the gate and down the lane. After pleading with her, her mother finally allowed her to go, insisting that she kept close to the house and didn’t wander too far. The day was beautiful and the little girl knew exactly where she was heading! Down the lane and across the valley, she rode her bike until she got to the gate of the golden house across on the other hill.

As she dismounted her bike and lent it against the gate post, she focused on the path that lead to the house and then on the house itself…and was so disappointed as she realized all the windows were plain and rather dirty, reflecting nothing other than the sad neglect of the house that stood derelict.

So sad she didn’t go any further and turned, heart broken as she remounted her bike … As she glanced up she saw a sight to amaze her…there across the way on her side of the valley was a little house and its windows glistened golden …as the sun shone on her little home.

She realized that she had been living in her golden house and all the love and care she found there was what made her home the ‘golden house’. Everything she dreamed was right there in front of her nose!

Teachings of Buddha!

Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.

Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.

In the sky, there is no distinction of east and west; people create distinctions out of their own minds and then believe them to be true.

It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.

Quotes of Albert Einstein..!

A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.
A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.
All that is valuable in human society depends upon the opportunity for development accorded the individual.
All these primary impulses, not easily described in words, are the springs of man's actions.
A perfection of means, and confusion of aims, seems to be our main problem.

The Elephant Rope..!

As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at anytime, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

He saw a trainer nearby and asked why these animals just stood there and made no attempt to get away. “Well,” trainer said, “when they are very young and much smaller we use the same size rope to tie them and, at that age, it’s enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.”

The man was amazed. These animals could at any time break free from their bonds but because they believed they couldn’t, they were stuck right where they were.

Like the elephants, how many of us go through life hanging onto a belief that we cannot do something, simply because we failed at it once before?

Failure is part of learning; we should never give up the struggle in life.

Nelson Mandela Quotes..!

What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.

If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.

After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb.

It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.

Good Morning!

In life you will realise that
there is a purpose for
everyone you meet....

Some will test you, some will use you,
some will love you and
some will teach you...

Most important are the ones who bring out
the best in you, respect you and accept you for
who you are.  Those are the ones worth keeping
around - keep them close to your heart.....

Story to be shared!

A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train window, shouted
"Dad , look the trees are going behind"
Dad smiled :) ..and a young couple sitting nearby, looked at the 24 year old's childish behavior with pity.

Suddenly he again said "Dad, look the clouds are running with us!!"
The couple Could'nt resist and said to the old man, "why dont you take your son to a good doctor?"

The old man smiled and said "I did it and we are just coming from the hospital, my son was blind from birth, he just got his eyes today".

Don't jump to a conclusion directly. Because what you see is most probably not the truth..!!

‎"Why We Shout In Anger"

A Hindu saint who was visiting river Ganges to take bath found a group of family members on the banks, shouting in anger at each other. He turned to his disciples smiled 'n asked.

'Why do people shout in anger shout at each other?'

Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, 'Because we lose our calm, we shout.'

'But, why should you shout when the other person is just next to you? You can as well tell him what you have to say in a soft manner.' asked the saint

Disciples gave some other answers but none satisfied the other disciples.
Finally the saint explained, .

'When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to hear each other to cover that great distance.

What happens when two people fall in love? They don't shout at each other but talk softly, Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is either nonexistent or very small...'

The saint continued, 'When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper 'n they get even closer to each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only look at each other 'n that's all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.'

He looked at his disciples 'n said.

'So when you argue do not let your hearts get distant, Do not say words that distance each other more, Or else there will come a day when the distance is so great that you will not find the path to return.'
